Mothers in Motion: Alberta Workshops (2009)

Do you work with women and families of low socio-economic status? If you do, you may find this video presentation helpful.

The following videos capture the Mothers in Motion workshop, an initiative that was created and delivered by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS). CAAWS is a not-for-profit organization working to encourage girls and women to participate and lead in sport and physical activity.

In February 2009, CAAWS came to Alberta to share the information they had gathered in their Mothers in Motion project. The goals of this project were:

  • To identify barriers that limit mothers with low socio-economic status from participating in physical activity
  • To identify solutions and best practices that will help these mothers participate in more physical activity
  • To develop resources that will help practitioners increase these mothers’ participation in physical activity

The workshop was offered in both English and French. Both offerings were captured on video so practitioners in Alberta, Canada and all over the world will continue to have an opportunity to learn about the Mothers in Motion project.
