How to Use this Site

This information will help you find your way through our new site.

The Alberta Centre for Active Living website contains extensive resources on many aspects of physical activity, including

How to Find Information on Our Site

There are three main ways to find information on our site.

1. Site Map

To see all sections of our website at a glance, visit our site map. The site map appears at the bottom of every website page (bottom right).

2. Search

The Search Feature appears on every website page (bottom right-hand side). This feature allows you to search by typing in the name of the information you’re looking for. You can also search using one or more categories, for example,

  • population groups (Aboriginal people, adults, children/youth, older adults, people with disabilities, women/girls);
  • settings (communities, schools, urban design, workplaces);
  • other topics (chronic diseases, general advocacy/policy, healthy eating, healthy weights, mental health, walking/pedometers);
  • keywords (type in a word or phrase describing the kind of information you’re looking for, e.g., barriers to physical activity, childhood obesity, pedometers).

    The Alberta Centre for Active Living regularly receives physical activity information from various sources, including listservs, websites, personal contacts, and e-mails. These resources are useful for people who need evidence-based physical activity information for their work. The information listed has been cut and pasted from its original source and is provided as information only.

    Each year, the Alberta Centre for Active Living invites a prominent speaker to discuss a key topic in the physical activity field.

    These feature articles were originally developed for the Canadian Health Network. They are also available in French.
  • INFOGRAPHICS - The Centre has created infographics to support various reports.
  • PEDOMETER TOOLKIT
    The Centre has pedometer tool kits available for loan to practitioners. They are free to borrow.
  • SCREENSAVER
    Download the Centre's free Active Living Screensaver for interesting and colourful facts about the many benefits of keeping active.
  • VIDEOS and PODCASTS
    The Centre has produced various videos to support physical activity. Also you can listen to two active living podcasts that are available in English and French.
