Promoting Health Through Community Design: Finding the Win-Win Across Multiple Health Outcomes
The Alberta Centre for Active Living invited Dr. Larry Frank, an internationally known expert in sustainable transportation from the University of British Columbia, to speak at its Physical Activity Forum 2007.
Dr. Frank is the author of two books, Health and Community Design: The Impacts of the Built Environment on Physical Activity, and Urban Sprawl and Public Health. His 2004 study, "Obesity Relationships with Community Design, Physical Activity, and Time Spent in Cars," was featured in Time magazine, and on CNN and ABC news.
The formal program was followed by a panel discussion between Dr. Frank and several key professionals.
