Nora leads all aspects of Centre operations, including advocacy, partnerships, planning, budgeting and staffing. She is the primary contact for external relationships, including provincial and national active living networks and initiatives. As Director, Nora is an “active voice” for the promotion of physical activity and a strong advocate for policy changes that support physical activity where we work, live and play. Nora is a cyclist and avid dog walker, and she also enjoys time being active with her family.

Soultana is our Research Associate and Knowledge Translation Specialist. She completed her PhD at McGill University where she worked in partnership with the Kahnawake Schools Diabetes Prevention Project, located on the Mohawk reserve of Kahnawake. Using principles of community-based participatory research approach, she mobilized and engaged key school and community stakeholders to develop active transportation programming for two local elementary schools. Soultana brings her expertise in health promotion programming, active transportation and community-based participatory research to the team. Soultana enjoys participating in all sport activities and cycles to work daily.

Betty works at the “hub” of the Centre, providing a range of supports and expertise to Centre staff, and ensuring smooth operations. Among other duties, she manages the Centre’s website, acts as in-house graphic designer for a wide range of publications, contributes to marketing and communications, and manages equipment purchases and IT support. Betty enjoys cycling, yoga, and participating with her children and family in physical activities.

Lynda plays a leading or supporting role for many administrative aspects of Centre operations and provides essential services or assistance to all staff. Among other duties, she coordinates important aspects of Centre events and meetings, including registrations, venue bookings, catering and other key details. She also manages the Centre’s client database, pedometer kit loans, and Media Summaries publication. Lynda enjoys lunch hour workouts and playing squash, tennis, and volleyball. She also likes walking in Edmonton’s river valley.
